Teachers' Academy is a very successful program that replicates the Leadership Academy Satellite Program, which has provided excellent professional growth for school leaders for 20 years. The Teachers' Academy is designed to provide the region's very best teachers with an intellectually stimulating opportunity to learn new teaching strategies and collaborate with other highly committed teachers.
 
The Academy's focus is on instructional strategies that enhance student learning. The program has both statewide and regional components that enable teachers to learn new instructional strategies, deepen content knowledge, and network with other exceptional educators from the area. Participation requires monthly release days for these regional workshops. Participants pay their own expenses to all meetings.
 
Teachers' Academy Statewide Outcome:
  • To use 'high yield' strategies in your classroom.
  • To teach with reflection to improve practice
  • To use strategies for engagement of all students.
  • To obtain empowerment, collaboration, and renewal.

Objectives:
  • Develop a professional vocabulary.
  • Demonstrate a deeper sense of efficacy for student learning in the classroom. Demonstrate a deeper sense of efficacy for teacher leadership.
  • Use new understandings to shape instructional practice and reflect on the impact on students.
  • Use Marzano's 'high yield' strategies (Summarizing, Questioning, Non-linguistic Representation, etc.) in instruction.
  • Reflect on your teaching practices and change practice to increase student learning.
  • Understand and use strategies to improve engagement.
